A dry breeze blew through the mouth of the cave, emitting a terrifying hollow moan of anguish. Standing at the entrance of the cave was a tall, handsome, muscular man with his hands on his hips. He surveyed his surroundings coolly and bravely and flashed the quivering man beside him a quick smile, for he was a man of many great grins and was always more than happy to bestow them on other people in need.

The guide by his side shuddered and pointed a trembling finger at the cave. “In there lies the treasure,” he said in a foreign language that only the man could understand, for he was a very intelligent man and had studied much in the subject of tongues and archaeology.  He bowed his head in thanks and tipped his well-shaped fedora at the man, then paid him. The guide scuttled off, hoisting himself onto his camels (in a way that wasn’t half as graceful as the man at the cave could have done it) and galloped off across the sands of the Mexican desert.

The man at the cave watched as he left and grinned wryly to himself. Being a man of much bravery, he had never known fear. No, not Utah Smith!! Utah Smith! laughed in the face of fear!  Utah Smith! ate fear for breakfast! He took the gun out of the holster in his belt and expertly twirled it in his hands before replacing it.

With nothing more than a handful of dry bark, Utah Smith! strode into the cave! What was to await him there? Nobody knew, but Utah Smith!! Would Utah Smith!, in his brave endeavours, make it out of the cave alive? Would he come out with his prize?

The world waits with bated breath, to find out the fate of Utah Smith!! in the upcoming volume: Utah Smith! Vol. 2: The Cave of Wonders!!
For people who don't really know the awesomeness of Utah Smith! (exclamation mark mandatory), I came up with him in a really, really random RP post. XD Since then, he's kind of been the person I turn to when I want to write some serious crack, so it's not usually very well-written. He's also been featured in my Hamlet short story, which was complete crap, except for Utah Smith!, I think. XD My English teacher thinks there should have been more Hamlet, but Utah Smith! is more fun than Hamlet. >_>

When I came up with the idea of Utah Smith!, I had never, ever watched any of the Indiana Jones movies, except for the newest one, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skulls or something like that. To date, I've only watched that one and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, so I really don't have much idea of what he stands for yet. XD

For best effect, please read with Indiana Jones music in the background. LOL

I'm just trying this out here on DA, so I might or might not end up posting whatever else I write here. XD
